Saya ingat menonton film Gad Elmaleh, Hors de Prix/Priceless, sebagai orang lugu dan dipermainkan oleh cinta. Nah memang nasib si Elmaleh ini, seorang keturunan Yahudi Maroko, di film ini mendapatkan peran yang agak2 mirip.

François (Elmaleh) adalah seorang "parking valet" di restoran ternama dekat menara Eiffel. Masih bujangan, dia berharap bisa menikah dengan Émilie (Virginie Ledoyen..slurrppp). Tidak disangka-sangka suatu hari ketika ia sedang berjalan kaki, di dekat seorang milyuner Levasseur (Daniel Auteuil) dan kekasih gelapnya Elena (Alice Tagiloni..ini lebih slurrppp), ada paparazzi yang mengabadikan mereka dalam foto.

Poltergay

Poltergay, memang tidak bisa dibilang film horror, karena sosok hantu2nya tidak menakutkan, malah tampil necis, perlente dan cenderung...gay! Diambil dari kata bahasa Jerman 'poltergeist' atau hantu yg berisik, disini hantunya ada para gay yang mati ketika terjadi kebakaran di pesta disko rumahan tahun 1970-an.

Adalah pasangan Marc (Clovis Cornillac) dan Emma (Julie Depardieu) yang pindahan ke rumah yang umurnya mungkin lebih dari seabad lamanya. Tak lama Marc mulai merasakan adanya keanehan di dalam rumah 'baru'-nya, dan ketika muncul hantu2 gay itu, Marc bisa melihat mereka tetapi Emma tidak. Hal ini membuat hubungan mereka runyam, sampai Emma meninggalkan Marc karena tindakan Marc yang seakan-akan menjadi gila.

Marc pun mencari tahu apa yang terjadi dengan mereka, dan berusaha menolong. Upaya Marc oleh para hantu2 tersebut dibalas dengan menolong Marc agar bisa dekat lagi dengan Emma.

Film komedi ini berbobot ringan dan bukan tipe yang membuat orang tertawa terbahak-bahak. Saya pun mungkin lebih banyak tersenyum. Saya akui ide ceritanya fresh, hanya pengembangan cerita memang tidak terlalu kuat, dan menjelang akhir film baru terasa menarik.

Ketika ditantang taruhan oleh seorang teman untuk menunjukkan bahwa ia punya sahabat/best friend/meilleur ami, François yang mempunyai sifat egois dan sinis rela membayar seorang supir taksi yang ditemuinya Bruno. Tapi apa yang dikiranya sebagai sahabat sejati 'sangat-sangat' ditafsirkan salah oleh François sehingga yang menjadi pikirannya adalah untuk memenangkan taruhan, bukan mendapatkan sahabat sejati.

Elliot, seorang agen rahasia, mengetahui informasi rahasia yang dikatakan akan mengakibatkan kejatuhan ekonomi dan situasi perang di Amerika Serikat. Para investor Arab yang menjadi kliennya sudah diperingatkan, dan untuk informasi tsb, ia minta dibayar puluhan juta dollar dan diwariskan untuk anak-anak tirinya, Orlando dan David.

Irène membantunya untuk mempertemukankan mereka, namun ada sang pembunuh, William, yang terus2an mengintai & mengikuti Irène demi menghabisi nyawa si Elliot (for what reason?). Dan Irène pun harus mencari cara untuk menghindar dari Wiliam agar dapat bertemu Elliot di kota Venice..

Film ini bukan full-action dan mempunyai plot yang sangat lemah. "Perang ideologi (USA vs. France)" yang di bawa dua anak tiri Elliot tidak menunjukkan debat yang cerdas, cenderung lebih pada ignorance..mungkin hanya untuk tujuan humor semata. Pada akhirnya mereka malah saling jatuh cinta.

Juliette Binoche sebagai Irène tampil lumayan dan ia tampil bilingual dalam film ini.

Setting di Spanyol abad pertengahan, Alatriste adalah seorang tentara Spanyol. Spanyol waktu itu seperti Amerika jaman sekarang, ikut campur dalam urusan dalam negeri di benua Eropa , termasuk saat Spanyol sebagai kerajaan Katolik berusaha memerangi kaum Protestan di daerah Belanda. Saya agak bingung juga mengikuti sejarah politik dan perang Eropa, tokh itu hanya sebagai latar belakang saja. Fokus film mengenai si Alatriste yang memenuhi janjinya kepada sohib sesama tentara yang gugur di medan perang, yaitu untuk membesarkan anak si sohib.

Saya lebih memusatkan perhatian pada adegan peperangan yang cukup unik, dan ini memang gaya perang abad ke-17. Para tentara masih menggunakan tombak panjang (pike) untuk peperangan jarak dekat, dengan kombinasi senapan jenis lama (musket?) dan meriam walaupun masih belum cukup akurat untuk melumpuhkan musuh. Saya pernah lihat suatu acara documentary di televisi, bahwa rejim Jerman Timur memperkerjakan hampir separuh jumlah penduduknya untuk memata-matai penduduk yang lain. Film ini juga bertemakan hal demikian.

Dreyman adalah seorang sutradara panggung drama yang sukses. Dan kekasihnya, Sieland, aktris panggung yang sukses pula. Masalah datang ketika sang Menteri Kebudayaan mulai naksir Sieland dan mengajaknya berkencan.

Seorang petugas, Wiesler, kemudian disuruh untuk memata-matai tempat tinggal mereka, dengan memasang alat pengintai suara. Ketika Wiesler mengetahui ada rencana Dreyman untuk melarikan diri ke Jerman Barat, ia tidak melaporkan ke atasannya.. kenapa?? happy-ending deh.. ;)

Russian state bond and anarchic vagabond (a deliciously over top Thierry Frémont) are also part of the mix, with screenwriting newcomers Xavier Dorison and Fabien Nury relying heavily on the inter-textual play between the opera Ivan the Terible - which Krueger's character is putting on Paris - and the story involving contemporary Russia (which is still pre-October revolution). The piece is meant to elevate the generic police procedural plot onto a more lofty plain, with an examination of suppressors versus the suppressed and issues surrounding national pride, but the film tries too hard to draw out these parallels, which are shaky at best. In Les brigades du tigre, Russia only exists in the hearts of the anarchists and not on screen, which in our own times of terrorism does nothing to create any sympathy for these characters, their ultimate, possibly worthy goals largely overshadowed by their dirty methods.

Cornillac, Baer and Gourmet make for a nice trio, their cameraderie completely believing even if some of their slapstick humour falls flat. Jugnot and Fremont have glorified cameo appearances, as does Alexandre Metvedev, who plays the Russian prince that is married to Kruger. The German-born Kruger acquits herself admirably, even if she is bogged down by a script that does not allow her to enorate the heat, passion and sense of intrigue her role seems to suggest on paper. Accorsi, in his French-language debut, is the scene-stealer here, with his character not only having the best story-line--and most spectacular ending--but his sincere demeanour also a welcome contrast to the sometimes overplayed snobbery of the brigades trio.

Belasan cerita pendek ini (jumlahnya 18?) tidak terkait satu sama lain, dengan berbagai ide seperti cerita tentang vampire, gadis muslim, kematian, putus cinta dll..

Kalau anda liat poster di sebelah kanan ini, terlihat 10-an wajah aktor/aktris yang nampang disitu. Sebanyak itulah peran yang ada dalam Fauteuils d'Orchestre (Inggrisnya: Orchestra Seats). Ide ceritanya unik, dan sebetulnya film ini terdiri dari 3 subplot dengan masing-masing segala pernak-pernik kehidupan di dalamnya:
1. panggung pertunjukan musik: Lefort (Albert Dupontel), seorang pianis yang sudah bosan dengan kehidupan konser piano, berharap istrinya (Laura Morante), yang juga sekaligus manajernya, untuk mau tinggal dan hidup tenang jauh dari kota;
2. panggung teater komedi: Catherine, seorang komedian panggung yang ingin mengembangkan kariernya, tidak sekedar tenar di panggung, berupaya menarik perhatian seorang sutradara film (diperankan oleh Sydney Pollack);
3. tempat pelelangan barang2 seni: Jacques, seorang kolektor benda2 seni bermaksud menjual segala koleksinya di situ, bertemu dengan anaknya Frederic (diperankan oleh Christopher Thompson, penulis skenario film ini) yang tak lain adalah mantan kekasih istri sang ayah sekarang.

Ketiga tempat ini berada di satu ruas jalan. Satu hal yang membuat 3 cerita itu saling bersinggungan adalah Jessica (Cecile de France, main di film Mon Colonel), waiter di sebuah kafe, di jalan yang sama. Jessica sendiri punya keinginan untuk mewujudkan mimpi sang nenek.

OSS 117: Le Caire Nid d'Espions

Bukan bermaksud meng-copy James Bond si agen 007 , OSS 117: Le Caire nid d'espions lebih condong ke film ttg spy ala Austin Powers, yang konyol dan parodi. Cari-cari info di internet, OSS 117 adalah serial film seperti 007, yang beredar di Prancis circa '60-an. Sedangkan versi sekarang adalah spoof dari film lama tsb. walopun parodi, unsur action-nya ga kalah seru kok..

Tahun 1945 :OSS 117 (cent dix-sept? diperankan Jean Dujardin), berhasil menyelesaikan misi spionasenya di Nazi Jerman.

Setting beralih ke tahun 1955, 117 ditugaskan ke Kairo untuk menyelidiki agen Jack (yg jg ex-partner), yang hilang secara misterius, ketika menyelidiki hilangnya kapal kargo Rusia yang berisi senjata di Terusan Suez. Jack di Mesir menyamar jadi businessman yang punya perusahaan dagang ayam di Kairo. So, 117 datang ke Kairo berpura-pura jadi partner dagang Jack, dan di sana ia dibantu oleh sekretaris Jack, Larmina (Berenice Bejo, cantik loh!).

Kairo juga menyimpan keruwetan tersendiri bagi 117, seperti Princess Altarouk yang ingin membalas dendam kpd OSS, demikian pula neo-Nazi yang dikalahkan 117 ketika misi di Jerman. Selain itu ada kelompok arab nasionalis, mata-mata Rusia, pria misterius dan orang yang selalu mengawasi gerak-gerik 117.

Film ini kental nuansa old-fashion layaknya film Bond tahun 60-an, seakan-akan kita menonton film lama. 117 himself in a way resembles Sean Connery (ya gak?). Selain itu, merujuk pada sejarah pada tahun2 tsb Mesir memang sedang panas2-nya dalam nasionalisme Arab dan ia berada di tengah pengaruh antara AS dan Soviet.

Satu lagi, 117 ini blo'on banget dan bisa juga dibilang 'angkuh' dan cuek (ignorant). Sepertinya sih 117 'agak2' melecehkan agama Islam, seperti pada adegan ketika muazin mengumandangkan azan, 117 merasa terganggu dan pergi ke tower mesjid utk menghentikan sang muazin. Bukan itu saja sih, 117 juga berkesan merendahkan budaya arab (baca: Timur), tapi tenang..hal ini tidak bermuatan politis kok. Sejatinya sih itu hanya menggambarkan keblo'onan 117 (baca review lain di sini) dan menjadikan 117 bukan sosok superhero yang unggul dalam segala hal.

Ah sudahlah..saya sudah sangat terhibur dengan adegan perkelahian antara Princess Altarouk dan Larmina di akhir cerita. ;) bonus nih!
Note: di akhir cerita ada hint mengenai sekuel film ini. disebutin sih tugas 117 berikutnya (kalo ga salah):IRAN!
